Visa expire after Ausbildung

Hi everyone,

I’d like to ask for advice regarding my current visa situation in Germany.

I’m about to finish my Ausbildung in July, but unfortunately, the company where I worked won’t offer me a job afterward due to internal downsizing. I’ve been looking for other opportunities but haven’t found anything yet. My Aufenthaltstitel says "erlischt sich mit Ausbildungsende" which is at last exam date. Am I illegal like on next day after exam?

The problem is that I can’t afford to apply for the Jobseeker Visa (I don’t have enough savings), and I also don’t have anyone who could provide a Verpflichtungserklärung. So right now, I’m not sure what my options are to stay legally in Germany after my Ausbildung ends.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Are there any alternative visa options or solutions I should consider?

Thank you in advance for any help or advice!

P.S. I can not apply to Asyl/Duldung by the way and came in Germany already with Visa for Ausbildung

Hi @advancedu1 , thank you for getting in touch.

If you successfully complete your vocational training, you can switch to a §20 residence permit (job search following stays):
https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/aufenthg_2004/__20.html (only in German)

In this case, you do not need to prove that you have enough money to support yourself (Lebensunterhaltssicherung). This permit allows you to look for work for up to 18 months. However, it is difficult or impossible to extend the permit.

You can contact the youth migration service or an immigration advice centre to help you with the whole application process: https://bamf-navi.bamf.de/en/Themen/Beratungsstellen/

If you need help finding a centre, please give us your postcode.

Best wishes
Barbara
