Work with Bürgergeld

Hello,

I’m receiving Bürgergeld and supposed to start a new job these days.
Since this is only part time job, I’m trying to understand what is the highest salary I can earn and still get the help, or how exactly is this going to work.

thank you

Hello @amit , thank you for reaching out to us. Congratulations on your new job. Whether or not you will receive Bürgergeld and how much depends on your salary. In general, you can earn up to 100 euros without your Bürgergeld being reduced. If you work above that then a certain percentage will be kept for you. If you are under 25 and work a Minijob you can keep the earnings. However, if you are above 25 then what you earn will be deducted from your Bürgergeld. For more information please also refer to our page: https://handbookgermany.de/en/jobcenter#faq_1213 If you have further questions, please let us know. Best wishes

thank you for your answer! i actually read this and I still quite didnt understand, so that's why i wrote the question here. i'm over 25, so i understand the salary will be reduced from the Bürgergeld. so then lets say my salary is 500, and we call the Bürgergeld B: i will earn: 500+B*0.2? then if my salary is 900: 900+B*0.3? and for 1100 salary i will earn: 1000+B*0.1? also, the Bürgergeld is including the rent? thank you! and sorry to bother but we really try to understand and we can't :(

Hi @amit , I know unfortunately, it is quite complex and also depends on how much you pay rent, how many people are in the “Bedarfsgemeinschaft” and whether you have children under the age of 18. You can find an example calculation for minijob+Bürgergeld here: https://www.buergergeld.org/news/buergergeld-minijob-anrechnung-538/ Maybe the following website is also helpful for you to roughly calculate how much you will be receiving: https://www.brutto-netto-rechner.info/buergergeld-rechner.php You can also ask you case worker for further details. Finally, you can also call and contact: https://www.beratung-kann-helfen.de/kontakt/impressum if anything remains unclear or problems arise. I hope this makes it a bit clearer. Best wishes
