Hello Barbara, the one you send me link is someone who is looking for visa, I am a residence in Slovakia( EU) as well. I would like to know my options compare to someone who is not from EU and I have a long stay visa already (10 years).

If you have better solution or I can contact someone with similar situation will be very helpful. Thanks a million.

Hi @Andi Wilian  ,

is it correct that you hold a EU long-term residence permit issued in Slovakia?

You can find information here on the website of Federal Office of Migration and Refugees about EU long-term residence permit and mobility: https://www.bamf.de/EN/Themen/MigrationAufenthalt/ZuwandererDrittstaaten/MobilitaetEU/MobilitaetLangfristigerAufenthalt/mobilitaet-langfristigeraufenthalt-node.html

In your case, the section "Entering Germany with an EU long-term residence permit issued by another Member State" is relevant.

In short, as a holder of EU long-term residence permit you can enter Germany without a visa for up to 90 days. However, if you plan to stay longer (to work, study etc.) you will need to apply for a residence permit for that specific purpose. I have already answered a similar question here, which might be helpful for you: https://together-in-germany.de/de/node/7972

Similar to the other user, you might need to consider which option would be better for you: applying for a permit before entering (at German embassy in Slovakia) or after you've arrived in Germany.

Let us know if you have more questions.

Best wishes
