Work visa is approved but job offer revoked by company

I currently reside outside Germany, and I secured a job offer from a German company and applied for the national visa. I requested more time to join the German office, since my current company could not find any replacement for me.

But the German company said they won't extend the joining date and will revoke the job offer.

I applied for the visa, and it is already under process. If I get a positive decision for the visa, will I still be able to travel to Germany?

Meanwhile, If I find a new job offer with a different German company, is it possible to change my visa to the new company?

Welcome to our forum, @Doodlekerf

I am sorry to hear that your first job offer was revoked. Nevertheless, it is great that you have already found a new job.

Since your visa is still being processed, you should inform the German embassy immediately about your new job offer and submit the updated documents (your new work contract and a completed Declaration of Employment (Erklärung zum Beschäftigungsverhältnis) from your new employer for them to process. Ideally, the authorities will grant your visa based on your new employment.

Please let me know if you have any further questions. Wishing you all the best!

Thank you for your response. However, I still did not secure another job I'm trying my best to get one.

In case my visa is issued before I secure another job what shall I do? Shall I travel using the same visa and after reaching Germany inform the authorities about the job change or shall I inform the local embassy to cancel the existing visa and issue a new one.

One more question. Once the visa is issued, I think I will get 3 months to enter into Germany and from the date I entered into Germany another 3 months to convert the entry visa into residence permit. Is that correct?

Dear @Doodlekerf

Unfortunately, if you are unable to secure a new job and submit the necessary documents to the German embassy for them to issue an updated visa, complications are very likely. A visa is always granted based on a specific purpose of stay - in your case, employment. Since your previous job offer has been revoked, you no longer have a valid purpose of stay, meaning your visa officially would no longer be valid. Please note that we cannot provide legal advice. Therefore, you should clarify your situation with the German authorities to ensure you do not face any issues when converting your visa (with a previous employer) into a residence permit and changing your employment. It would certainly be easier if you secure a new job, submit the updated employment documents, and have a visa issued based on your future employment.
Once the visa is issued, it is very likely to be valid for six months (in some cases, 3 months up to one year). After your arrival in Germany, you will need to find accommodation, register your address at the local registration office (Einwohnermeldeamt/Bürgeramt), and apply for your residence permit at your local foreigners department.
Due to the high volume of applications, foreigners departments often have long processing times, though this can vary by location. Therefore, it is highly recommended to book an appointment as soon as possible.
I hope this gives you a general overview. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.
