Hello @abood1995 , thank you for your question on our platform.

Yes, in order to receive the permanent residency you will also need to pass the "Leben in Deutschland" test.

With a Blue Card, as you rightly mentioned, you only need to have made pension insurance contributions for 27 months, have a suitable job and speak German at A1 level. If you speak German at level B1, you can obtain a permanent residence permit after just 21 months.

For more information about the requirements for the permanent residency with a blue card can be found here: https://www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/visa-residence/living-permanently…
and here: https://handbookgermany.de/en/permanent-residence-migrants

Best wishes

@Yara__Community_Manager The "Leben in Deutschland" test is used not only to demonstrate basic knowledge of the legal system in Germany, but also language proficiency at B1 level. How can then this test be a requirement when the required level for an EU Blue Card holder is A1?

Hello @Yara__Community_Manager and @Barbara__Community_Manager - I searched the site but couldn't find where exactly on the main forum this question was asked.

Could you please provide a link or answer the question of @esmeralda as I am also interested in it.

Thank you in advance for the answer.

Hello @Rummy and @esmeralda , As you're applying under the 27 month rule: A1 German certificate is sufficient. The "Leben in Deutschland" (LiD) test is usually required to prove knowledge of German society, law and culture, but as you wrote, also language skills at B1 level.

I suggest you contact the Ausländerbehörde to confirm which documents they require, or the migration advice centre: https://bamf-navi.bamf.de/de/Themen/Migrationsberatung/

If you gather any information on this subject, please share it on the forum. Best Barbara
