VISA - Medical Requirments
Hi All,
I am Max and I am planning on immigrating to Germany. I have a few queries which are listed below, hope someone would be able to assist me with it!
1. Could you anyone assist me with possibly confirming if a HIV positive person can gain work permit and residence permit in Germany?
2. Is a HIV medical test required for German WORK VISA process?
3. And to obtain a German Work Visa - can the visa applicant sponsor themselves with just a work offer from a German Company or does the company has to provide the applicant with job offer letter and also has to sponsor the candidate as well?
Thank you very much for your guidance on this.
Hi @Maxxx ,
thanks for coming to our platform. It's great that you are informing yourself before moving to Germany.
I will try to answer your questions as best as I can.
1+2. Yes, someone with HIV can apply for a work permit and residence permit in Germany. There are certain federal states in Germany, where they might ask you to take a test for the visa application or residence permit. I found this according to the source on page30: https://www.iasociety.org/sites/default/files/hivtravel/DAH_Quick_Ref_Guide_2016.pdf
To get more accurate information I would suggest you contact the “Aids Hilfe” they also give advice online and can help you further with your questions.
3. No, sponsorship is not possible for a work visa. You will already need to have a job offer in Germany. Please see our skilled workers visa page for more information.
However, you can sponsor yourself through the so called Opportunity Card. Where you can search for a job. In the chapter we have listed all the requirements.
Please let me know if the Aids Hilfe were helpful it would be great for other community members with similar questions if you could share your experience and the information they passed on.
Best wishes
