60 months pension contributions

Good day Frau Daniela, is it possible to pay the pension insurance contributions in arrears to complete 5 years because I didn't start work earlier?

THANKS

Hi @Stepfred

thank you for your new question on the English forum!

We have already written in detail here about which requirements you already fulfil for permanent residence:
https://handbookgermany.de/en/forum/thread/permanent-residence-0

Please note that we can only provide general information and that detailed calculations of pension contributions must be carried out by the relevant authorities.

In certain cases, it may be possible to pay additional contributions to reach a full 60 months of pension contributions. In some cases, contribution periods prior to entry will be taken into account if you have paid into another pension scheme.

You can, for example, make an appointment with the pension insurance office to get advise on this matter. A local migration advice centre will also be able to tell you whether the local authority will accept this compensation of pension contribution for the permanent residence.

Best wishes
Daniela
