asylum

Hello, I am a Syrian from the Syrian coast, a third-year student of surveying engineering. Is there a way for me to travel to Germany and complete my studies in any way? I have the ability to work and I can learn German. So, can you help me with the travel.

I just want to be freed from the curse of the Middle East and the genetic backwardness here. I want to live as a human being.

I can afford the cost if it is financial. I can secure about 14 thousand euros.  I can sell my house I just want to get out.

If there are any volunteer programs or any agricultural work that I can do, I just want a sign from you that you will help me and I will start studying German.

I think you know that the Alawite sect is being killed and killing them has become a duty, and I think you are aware of that.

Finally, thank you and I await your response.

I would like to point out that I am waiting for you to look for another solution if you cannot help me because I cannot go to my university under these conditions and I have been out of work since the events of March.

Dear @MOUSA

First of all, it would be better if you change your username with a nickname which is not your proper name.

I completely understand your concerns about the future and the need to build an alternative path. However, we are unable to assist directly through this platform. What we can do is provide you with the necessary information about the options available to you and, if possible, refer you to our partner organisations.

In this regard, aside from applying for asylum, the main options for coming to Germany are either through work or study.

Working is generally possible through a qualified workers visa. To apply for this, you need to have a university degree or completed vocational training, obtain recognition of your qualification in Germany, and secure a job in a qualified profession. The job does not necessarily have to be in your field, but it must meet the criteria for qualified employment.

You can find detailed information on the different types of national visas on the following websites:
Handbook Germany - National Visa page: https://handbookgermany.de/en/national-visa

The relevant page of the embassy (in Beirut) for Syrian citizens: https://beirut.diplo.de/lb-de/service/05-visaeinreise/2087836-2087836

Another option is studying. For this, you must be enrolled in a study program—or in some cases, a language course that leads to a study program may be acceptable. In addition to enrollment, you must be able to finance your living expenses and prove it, either through a blocked account or a financial sponsor from Germany.

Specific information about the student visa and the enrollment process is available on our relevant websites:

German university system: https://handbookgermany.de/en/university-system

University application: https://handbookgermany.de/en/university-application

Student visa: https://handbookgermany.de/en/student-visa

Regarding asylum, I am tagging our partner colleagues @LIFE__Initiative here. They will get back to you as soon as possible.

I hope this has been helpful.

With my regards.

Hi @MOUSA , thank you for your inquiry. I'm sorry to hear about your difficult situation. These answers are provisional, as we do not know your exact situation and cannot give legal advice.

To begin with, here’s an important piece of information: You can only apply for asylum if you are in Germany. To briefly summarize the process: Within Germany, you would need to contact the German authorities, i.e., the immigration office, an arrival center, or an initial reception center, and inform them that you want to apply for asylum. You will then be taken to an initial reception center for refugees to register. You will either be given an appointment with the BAMF ("Federal Office for Migration and Refugees") at the registration or later by mail. At this appointment, you will officially submit your asylum application. More information can be found here: https://life-initiative.org/hgt-registrierung-als-asylsuchender-12-2024-en/. If you are not yet in Germany, there may also be other ways for you to come to Germany to live and work. You can view the different types of visas and the conditions for obtaining them here: https://handbookgermany.de/en/information-skilled-workers (check below to see more visa types) (Also see the reply from Eren). For further information, we recommend contacting a migration counseling center.

What can you do next?

I hope this information is helpful for you. If you have further questions, please let me know.

Kind regards, Franziska
