Leaving Germany and Moving to any other EU country.
Hello all,
I am in early 30s from Afghanistan. It has been one year since I have applied for my asylum but yet to receive the result. Germany is really boring for me and after one year I don't have at least one friend. I am thinking about moving to any other country where at least people are a little social. Since I have arrived to Germany I went through depression and still under treatment of the doctor. It is getting big on me and sometimes really negative thoughts come to my mind. If I move to another country what will happen to me ?

Hello @Hassan , thank you for your question. Our experts from the @LIFE Initiative will answer your questions as soon as possible. Best wishes, Barbara
Hi @Hassan , I am very sorry to hear about your difficult situation. If you leave Germany during your asylum procedure, your residence permit ("Aufenthaltsgestattung") will expire and it is possible that you will be banned from re-entering the country for several years. You can get more information about it here: https://handbookgermany.de/en/traveling-abroad-refugees#faq_103. If you want to go to another EU country or to Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Switzerland, you cannot apply for asylum there because of the Dublin procedure. You can find information here: https://handbookgermany.de/en/dublin-procedure. If you want to leave Germany during your asylum procedure, you will need a valid passport and a border crossing certificate ("Grenzübertrittsbescheinigung") (https://handbookgermany.de/en/voluntary-return#faq_802). You can apply for this at the immigration office. I highly recommend that you visit a migration advice center and ask for advice. Perhaps the person can also help you to build up a network in Germany or look for work so that you can keep yourself occupied while waiting for your asylum decision. You can search at: https://adressen.asyl.net/language/en/welcome-to-informationnetwork-asy… https://bamf-navi.bamf.de/de/Themen/Migrationsberatung/. (Enter your postal code and you will find advice centers near you).
I hope this information is helpful for you. If you have further questions, please let me know.
Kind regards, Franziska
