Skilled Worker Visa Application

Dear Team,

I hope this message finds you well.

I would like to inquire about the skilled worker visa application process. I currently hold refugee status in France, originally coming from Afghanistan, and I obtained this status one year ago. I have completed two master's degrees, one of which is from a university in France.

I have recently received a job offer from Germany, and my question is: Am I eligible to apply for a skilled worker visa using my travel document (NOT PASSPORT!) and refugee ID card, which indicates my refugee status? Is this possible. My intention is career prospects given that engineering opportunities are significantly greater in Germany compared to France?

Thank you for your assistance and support.

Hello, thank you for your question.

I have a follow up question, do you hold a Blue Passport?
I will also do some more research and get back to you as soon as possible.

Best wishes

@Yara_Community Manger Thank you for your assistance,
I have a travel document issued to immigrants (asylum seekers with approved cases). I don't know about the Blue Pass.
Many Thanks.

Hi @Mohammad317 , in Germany accepted asylum seekers or refugees receive a Blue passport. I am not sure what France issues you. The travel document might be equivalent to this. I think what you have to check first for how long you can leave France without loosing your status there. In Germany if you leave for longer then 6 months you loose your status.
In general Germany should accept the travel document issued in France. With this document you can apply for the visa at the German embassy in France.

In general you will need to have a job offer from Germany to come to Germany as a skilled worker you will also need to see if you qualification is recognized in Germany.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Hello, @Mohammad317 , I hope you are well.
I just wanted to check if you have any further questions? The general way to apply is through the German embassy in France. The requirements for a skilled workers  visa are as follows:
https://handbookgermany.de/en/visa-skilled-workers
Some important requirements are:
1) You need a degree that is recognize in Germany.
2) The Job you will have is a "skilled job"

Your employer can also make the process easier if he agrees to make a so called fast track procedure. More information can be found here:
 https://www.make-it-in-germany.com/en/looking-for-foreign-professionals/entering/the-fast-track-procedure-for-skilled-workers

And I also wanted to give you additional information.
It would be a good idea to check how long your asylum status is valid for when you leave France.
The skilled workers residence will allow you to work and stay in Germany, however, when you loose your work status this could, depending on the circumstances, endanger your residence. Because your residence is tied to your work. So it is good to know how long your refugee status is valid for, to make sure you are not left without any residence.

Best wishes
